This Privacy Policy explains how UNBOTHERED ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the UNBOTHERED mobile application and website. We have designed UNBOTHERED with privacy as a default.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information stored on your device only

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

  • Journal entries (all three tabs: Confidence, Nonchalance, Overthinking)
  • Daily rep completion history
  • Your Unbothered Score and pillar scores
  • Level and progression data
  • App usage history and streaks
  • Tool usage records (Spiral Catcher, 5-5-5 Check, Decision Log)

1.2 Information sent to our servers

The following information is transmitted only when you use specific AI-powered features:

  • Journal content submitted for AI reflection (only when you explicitly request AI analysis)
  • Rep type and context for AI personalisation (anonymised)

These transmissions are stateless — we do not store the content of your journal entries on our servers. The data is passed to our AI provider for processing and the response is returned to your device. We retain no record of the content.

1.3 Account and subscription information

If you create an account or subscribe, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Subscription status and billing history
  • App Store purchase records (processed by Apple — we do not handle payment details directly)

1.4 Technical and analytics data

We collect standard technical information including:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version
  • Crash reports and error logs
  • Aggregate feature usage statistics (which features are used, not what is written in them)

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the UNBOTHERED service
  • Process your subscription and manage your account
  • Send AI-generated responses to your journal reflections (only when requested)
  • Improve the app based on aggregate usage patterns
  • Send you important notices about your subscription or changes to our terms
  • Respond to your support requests

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your journal content for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles from your data.

3. Third-party services

3.1 AI processing

AI features in UNBOTHERED are powered by OpenAI's API. When you request AI reflection on journal content, that content is sent to OpenAI's servers for processing in accordance with OpenAI's Privacy Policy. We use OpenAI's data processing agreement which prohibits them from using your content to train their models.

3.2 Apple App Store

Subscription purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Data storage and security

Your journal data and personal scores are stored on your device using Apple's secure on-device storage. This data is included in your device's standard iCloud backup if you have iCloud backup enabled — this is controlled by your device settings, not by us.

Account information stored on our servers is protected using industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We store only the minimum information necessary to provide the service.

5. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Delete your account and associated data from our servers
  • Export your data in a portable format (in-app export is available)
  • Object to our processing of your data in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

Note: because your journal data is stored on your device, we cannot access or delete it — that is a feature, not a limitation. To delete your journal data, delete the app from your device.

6. Children's privacy

UNBOTHERED is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of UNBOTHERED after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
