About UNBOTHERED.
What we are building.
UNBOTHERED is a daily mindset training app built for people who are tired of being controlled by overthinking, other people's opinions, and their own self-doubt. It trains three things simultaneously — confidence, nonchalance, and clear thinking — and tracks all three with a single score that moves every day you show up.
Most mental health apps focus on crisis management or general wellbeing. UNBOTHERED focuses on something more specific: the day-to-day psychological patterns that hold most people back. The constant approval-seeking. The spiral thinking. The confidence that evaporates when it is most needed. These are not personality traits — they are trainable behaviours. And training them, consistently, over time, changes who you are.
The three pillars.
We chose confidence, nonchalance, and clear thinking because they are the three qualities most consistently absent in people who feel stuck — and because they reinforce each other in a measurable way.
Confidence without nonchalance collapses under external pressure. Nonchalance without confidence becomes passivity. Both without a clear mind get hijacked by overthinking before they ever reach behaviour. Training all three together, and measuring all three simultaneously, produces a different kind of result than working on them in isolation.
The three-pillar structure is not arbitrary. It maps directly to Bandura's self-efficacy research (confidence), exposure therapy and CBT models of social anxiety (nonchalance), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy's cognitive defusion techniques (clear thinking). Each pillar has a real research base, which is why the features work.
The science.
Every feature in UNBOTHERED maps to a specific, studied psychological mechanism. The daily rep system applies Bandura's mastery experience model directly — one real-world action per day that produces actual evidence of capability, compounding over time into a self-image that is difficult to argue with. The journaling structure uses CBT's evidence-gathering approach, building a written record that the inner critic cannot override. The overthinking tools apply ACT's cognitive defusion techniques, which create psychological distance between the person and the thought rather than trying to suppress or argue with the thought.
This matters because the alternatives — positive affirmations, generic journaling, vague motivational content — often do not produce lasting change. The research on positive self-statements suggests they can backfire for people with low baseline self-esteem. UNBOTHERED was built specifically to avoid this: instead of claiming things about yourself, you gather evidence of things you have done. Evidence the brain cannot dismiss.
